Speedee Boarding: Paddle Battles & Big Smiles at Hove Lagoon

Speedee Boarding: Paddle Battles & Big Smiles at Hove Lagoon

Hove Lagoon hosts what we think is world’s greatest paddle boarding relay racing tournament. 40 teams of 4 racers, cheered on by their families, friends, work colleagues and bemused members of the public to compete for silverware and kudos, and most importantly raise much needed funds for local charities.

What do you get when you mix two buzzing offices, one competitive CEO, and a paddleboard showdown for charity? A Friday well spent at Speedee Boarding, the high-energy charity event held at Hove Lagoon on June 13th, proudly sponsored by Oakley Property.

The sun was out, the water was (mostly) calm, and the vibes were unbeatable as Brighton and Lewes offices teamed up to raise both funds and a few friendly rivalries. The Speedee Boarding Charity Paddle wasn't just about racing, it was about community, teamwork, and a whole lot of splash-tastic fun.

So how did the teams line up...........................

Team Brighton:

Chris Oakley - Executive Chairman
CoCo Gagolione - Property Manager
David Marsh - Senior Commercial Agent
Steven Harvey - Commercial Director
Rupert Greenlees - Chartered Valuation Surveyor

Team Lewes:

David Beaken - Lewes Director
Sahhar Qashoua - New Homes Administrator
Rafael Fierro Castro - Sales Consultant
Brad Ashwood - New Homes Consultant

The two offices brought their A game, with Brighton just edging out Lewes in a fiercely competitive inter-company showdown. While neither team clinched the top spot in the main race, we certainly didn’t leave empty-handed.

Our Executive Chairman, Chris Oakley, paddled his way to victory in the crowd favourite “Demolition Derby” a spectacle not for the faint hearted! Picture this, over 50 competitors on paddleboards, all trying (safely and in great spirits) to knock each other into the water. Mayhem? Yes. Entertaining? Absolutely.

Chris’s previous paddleboarding adventures up the Amazon, where he fended off anacondas, alligators, and all manner of wild creatures, clearly paid off. Armed with strategy, speed, and a flair for tactical collisions, he brought home the gold and reminded us all that fearless determination wins the day. 🥇🌊

A huge thank you to everyone who came down to support, paddle, cheer (and in some cases, laugh!) the energy and enthusiasm made the day unforgettable.

Special thanks to Neil Laughton for expertly organising the event and to Lagoon Watersports for being incredible hosts. If you would like to try paddle boarding, windsurfing, wakeboarding or watersports in general then CLICK HERE and get in touch with the team.

We are looking forward to more events that blend competition with compassion, and plenty more opportunities to make waves for a good cause. 🌊💙
