Directors David Beaken and Andy Hovey take on Ultramarathon for charity
David & Andy Are Taking It to the Next Level! Having conquered marathons in the past, David and Andy are now stepping up to an even bigger challenge: the Run to the Sea Ultramarathon! Raising funds for ESTEEM, David and Andy are hoping to help save the Sussex charity's Old School House in Shoreham-by-Sea.
This epic 50km multi-terrain race takes them from Horsham to Brighton seafront, navigating through stunning trails, rolling downs, and a variety of terrains before they reach the iconic promenade.
Both past Presidents of the Brighton & Hove Estate Agents Association, David and Andy have always sought ways to give back to their community. So, when the chance to support ESTEEM arose, they didn’t think twice—it was the perfect cause to champion.
About ESTEEM
ESTEEM is a Sussex-based charity that transforms the lives of young adults aged 14–26, helping them build confidence, develop vital life skills, and improve their overall well-being.
At the heart of ESTEEM is The Old School House, the last remaining youth center in West Sussex. This invaluable space provides a safe and welcoming environment for young people, no matter their circumstances.
But here’s the challenge: the council plans to sell The Old School House. To preserve this crucial community hub, ESTEEM and its supporters must raise £500,000 by November 2025 to secure its future.
David shared his thoughts:
"When I visited The Old School House, I saw just how incredible it is. It’s a lifeline for so many young people, run by inspiring staff and volunteers. We knew we had to help. I did, however, assume the route from Horsham to Brighton would be mostly downhill—north to south, right? Then Andy kindly reminded me about a little obstacle called The South Downs...!
