Oakley Property Proud to Sponsor Speedee Boarding 2026 at Hove Lagoon

On Friday 12th June 2026, Oakley Property will once again be taking to the water as joint main sponsors of the annual Speedee Boarding charity paddleboard relay at Hove Lagoon.

Running from noon until 6pm, with an optional after party to follow, the event has become one of Sussex’s most entertaining and community-driven charity fundraisers, bringing together local businesses, families, supporters and spectators for an afternoon of chaos, competition and fundraising.

This year, 40 teams of four racers will compete in relay races across Hove Lagoon. Alongside the racing, there will be beginner paddleboarding sessions, food, refreshments, a BBQ and the legendary demolition derby finale (which our executive chairman has a cheeky habit of winning!)

Founded by adventurer Neil Laughton, Speedee Boarding has grown into a standout Sussex charity event, supporting dozens of smaller local charities every year through team fundraising and sponsorship. Rather than focusing on one national charity, the event encourages participating businesses to nominate and support causes that directly impact local communities.

Oakley Property is proud to once again support the event and this year will be fundraising for ESTEEM, a Sussex charity supporting young people through mentoring, wellbeing support and personal development opportunities.

For many of the Oakley team, Speedee Boarding has become a yearly tradition. Some participants arrive as experienced paddleboarders, while others step onto a board for the very first time. Fortunately, the lagoon is shallow, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the event is designed for maximum fun rather than professional athleticism.

Anyone who has attended before will know that the event is less about graceful paddleboarding and more about teamwork, laughter and surviving the demolition derby with dignity intact.

Executive Chairman, Chris Oakley, commented:
This is our third year sponsoring the event and the afternoon is always great fun. With 20 teams all going at the same time, you can imagine it’s quite a lot of fun and there are lots of mishaps and laughs.

Last year saw Oakley teams from both Brighton and Lewes offices battle it out on the water, with Chris Oakley taking home victory in the infamous demolition derby final.

As a business deeply rooted in Sussex communities, Oakley Property remains committed to supporting local charities, community initiatives and fundraising events throughout the year.

If you are attending Speedee Boarding this year, make sure to come and say hello to the Oakley team and cheer everyone on from the shoreline at Hove Lagoon.

We look forward to another unforgettable afternoon of paddleboarding mayhem for a great cause!!
