The 'runner's high' is a real phenomenon, offering stress relief and improved mood.
Insights from The Oakley Team
We're proud to have two company directors embracing the marathon spirit, fresh from their epic 50km Ultramarathon earlier this year. Residential Director Andy Hovey, who successfully completed this year's Brighton Marathon, shared his experience: "It was an incredible day, the crowd support was phenomenal, and the feeling of crossing that finish line was indescribable. It's tough, but so rewarding. I'm now really looking forward to taking on the London Marathon next year!" Andy's journey highlights the addictive nature of marathon running once you've experienced the triumph.
Looking ahead to next year, Lewes Director David Beaken is setting his sights on Brighton. David commented: "I ran the London Marathon back in 2010, I found it overwhelming, although I was thrilled to complete it and raise an incredible amount of money for Shelter, I always felt there was unfinished business as I could have done better. I am eager to see if 42 year old me and can take on 25 year old me! Having taken on the Run To The Sea Ultra earlier this year the training is just carrying on, I am now reminding myself weekly what an privilege it is to live in Brighton and to have the seafront to train on!" David's ambition perfectly encapsulates the drive many runners feel to continually challenge themselves and improve.
